Fullerton College Library

Queer Book Club

Ever been a book club member? There’s never been a better time to connect with
fellow literature lovers.

The Queer Book Club includes instructors, staff, and students. Allies are welcome!

We’ve discussed:

  • White fragility
  • Not being “brown enough” or “queer enough”
  • Spanish language in popular American literature
  • White feminism vs. brown feminism
  • The hegemony of the canon
  • A space cat, of course

This group was created in response to students’ request at the 2019 LGBTQ+ Student Forum.

Join us for an author chat—even if you don’t have time to read the book.
We enjoy seeing your face and appreciate the experiences and thoughts you share.

Join our online author chats/Q&As 🙂

Thanks for your interest in FC Library’s Queer Book Club!

Our fall 2026 read is, well, more intersectional than queer: The Blues: The Authentic Narrative of My Music and Culture by Grammy and CMA award-winning musician, author, and actor, Chris Thomas King. Here’s the pitch:

Acting in a Coen brothers film? Check.

Earning multiple Grammy Awards? Check.

Winning a Country Music Association award for album of the year? Check.

Researching and writing a well-reviewed book? Check.

Zoom chat with this successful artist, whether you’re interested in the history of the blues or a career in research/writing, acting, or music (or all of the above) — here is an opportunity to learn from an expert who has sold more than 12 million records and logged over 3,000 headline tour dates and festivals in 30+ countries.

Feel free to Zoom in or join the librarian in library room 820-P (upstairs, near classroom).

Our spring 2026 QBC reads were Randa Jarrar’s books, including
Love Is an Ex-Country.
