Library Instruction Sessions

Available in-person (room 827) and online (via Zoom).

• You decide the objectives for the session. Sessions can be designed to:
  • Support your assignment (e.g., how to find specific source types or how to identify effective search terms).
  • Develop information literacy skills, such as how to find sources using library databases or Google/Google Scholar, how to evaluate sources and claims using lateral reading, or how to cite sources using database tools and Google Docs.
• You decide the session length (typically from one to two hours).
  • 1-hour sessions include hands-on practice searching, evaluating, or citing sources.
  • 1 ½ to 2-hour sessions include time for students to begin their research with librarian assistance.

Online Workshops

• Workshops are filled with robust content that can provide your students with the information literacy skills they need to complete their research assignments. Each of these workshops can be completed in around 1 hour. They are self-enrolled, and students receive a certificate of completion when they pass with a score of 80% or higher. Better yet, we score the workshops, so that’s one task off your to-do list.
• We created Canvas assignment pages for each workshop that we can share with you. You can simply import the page into your Canvas course to use as a regular or extra credit assignment. Students receive certificates of completion they can upload to the assignment in your Canvas course.
