Fullerton College Library
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Library open during the COVID-19 pandemic?
While we strive to keep the library open so students can access library computers and resources for their course needs, our opening hours are dependent on the overall campus COVID-19 response. Please check the response website for updates on campus closures: https://coronavirus.fullcoll.edu.
What if I have to return a book and the library is closed or I can’t make it to campus?
Hang on to your books until normal campus operations are resumed. If you have library books due during this time please do not come to campus to return them. The library will forgive all fines accrued on books due during this uncertain time. Please ignore any overdue notices you receive, as our system sends those out automatically. After campus officially reopens you will have up to 2 weeks to return your books.
What if I have to return a calculator or another item that I borrowed from the library?
You don’t have to return any borrowed items from the library until campus operations are resumed. After campus officially reopens you will have up to 2 weeks to return your items.
How can I get in contact with a librarian outside of library open hours?
Because we cannot guarantee that we will be available in person at the library, the best way to reach a librarian during the COVID-19 campus response would be via phone, email, chat, or text message.

How do I log-in to the databases from off-campus?
- Click on a database from the list
- You will be asked to enter a username and password
- Username: MyGateway ID #
- Password: Your Last Name
If you are unable to log-in using your MyGateway ID # and Last Name, you can still access the databases through MyGatway. Login to MyGateway and go to the “Fullerton” tab. Then navigate to where it says “FC Library Resources”.
Can I borrow a laptop from the library while campus is closed?
Unfortunately, the library is not lending out laptops during campus closure. The laptops have been appropriated to support vital campus operations.
Can I still check-out materials from the library?
The library is not lending out any physical materials during campus closure. This includes reserve materials, books, supplies or computers. However, our digital materials are available for access for all FC students, faculty, and staff.
When the library reopens, you can borrow or purchase most physical materials from the library, including books, calculators, and laptops. However, we cannot regularly disinfect all of our materials. Just like during any other time, you use the library and library materials at your own risk.
Can I still use the library computers?
For everyone’s safety, we are not allowing anyone inside the library building while campus is closed.
Can I make an appointment with a librarian for research help?
Yes! We can help you via Zoom or Email. Request an appointment by going to: https://library.fullcoll.edu/library-services/book-a-librarian/.
If you need help setting up Zoom, check out the instructions here: https://online.fullcoll.edu/conferzoom.
What can I do to keep up good hygiene in the Library?
When the library reopens please keep in mind that the Library has a lot of high-touch surfaces, keep washing your hands and avoid touching your face when you are visiting. There is a restroom on each floor of the Library and hand sanitize is available at the Circulation and Reference Desks.
