Using the Internet

Searching the Internet
Finding what you want among the hundreds of millions of Web pages currently on the Internet isn't always easy. Should you use search engine or a subject directory? What about Lycos, Excite or Google? Are they all the same?

Evaluating Internet Sources
Once you've located some information on the Web, you need to evaluate it to see if it is a viable source for use in a research paper or project. Since almost anyone can place information on the Web, many Web pages are not acceptable for college-level sources.

Citing Internet Sources
Web pages must be cited in a bibliography or "Works Cited" page, just as a book or magazine article would be, but the format is different. Much depends on the "style" recommended by your instructor.
