Q:
Can I use the Internet/View my email?
A: "Email Express"
stations are available in the entry of the Library. The time limit
is 10 minutes.
Library Research Computers are available on the
first floor just past the Reference Desk. These have Internet only
and are for library research. The time limit is one hour.
Computers in the Library commons area north of the
staircase on the first floor require student login. These computers have
Internet and Word.
Remember, chatting and gaming on all computers
is not allowed. Students found chatting or playing games will receive
a warning. Continued misuse of Library computers will result in disciplinary actions
as determined by the Dean of the Library.

Q:
How can I search for books/articles in the library?
A: There are computer
terminals throughout the Library that are connected to the library's
online
catalog.

Q:
Where can I find online articles?
A: The Library subscribes
to several online databases that carry articles from newspapers,
journals, magazines,
dictionaries, and encyclopedias. Resources from specialized fields (such
as literature or statistics) are also available. Please visit
http://library.fullcoll.edu/databases.htm
for further information. Most of the databases can be accessed off
campus with the appropriate password. Stop by the Library Reference
Desk for the password sheet.
The Library has also provided a list of helpful
Internet links that can be accessed by visiting the library's
online
subject guide.

Q:
Can I use my laptop?
A: To use a laptop on campus, whether wireless or through open ports
in the Library, you must first log in once using your student i.d. and
password (see next FAQ for details) on a hard-wired campus computer,
e.g. in the Library or a lab. Once you log in, you will immediately be
prompted to change your password. Then the student i.d. and new password
will allow you to use the campus wireless or library open ports. This
log in and changing of the password must be done at the start of each
semester.
Laptops that have a
network card can use the open ports on the 2nd floor of the Library.
These are located on five of the long tables and
are marked with large blue dots. Ethernet cables may be checked out at the
Circulation Desk on the second floor.
There is no wireless network in the Library at this time.
Wireless is only available outside either in the front of the building
on the Quad or behind it in the patio area.

Q:
I can't login to the Computer Commons computers. What's wrong?
A: The Library's login
procedure is the same as the computer labs on campus. When you use one
of the computers in the commons area (north of the staircase on the
first floor) or connect to the network using your laptop, you will be
prompted to input your user ID and your password. Your user ID is your
eight-digit student ID number (without the @ sign) and your password
is your six digit birth date (mmddyy) .
Example:
User: 00123456
Password: 051477

Q:
Which computers will let me use Microsoft Word? Can I use Microsoft Office?
A: Only the computers
in the Computer Commons (north of the staircase on the first floor) have Microsoft Word installed. If you need to
use any other Microsoft Office programs, you will have to go to the computer
labs located in room 317 (in the 300 building) or 511 (in the 500 building).

Q:
How do I print?
A: In order to print
out anything from library computers, you will have to purchase a Library
print
card that you can purchase for $1.00. The card itself costs $.50, so you will
have only 50cents on the card for printing.
Printing costs $.10 per page.
You may add money to your card as you need it. The
Circulation Desk on the first floor will make change for you if needed.
If you need to
print a Word document that does not require editing or any other
additional work, you may use the Quick Print station located next to
the Reference Desk. The Library print card is required for printing.
Printing in the
computer labs on campus (Rooms 317 or 511, etc.) requires a campus print account.
For this you must go to the bookstore and put money a print account.
Bring the receipt to the computer labs. Printing is 4 cents per page.

Q: How does printing work?
A: When you
have your document ready for printing, click print as you normally would
and note the number located on the
top left corner of your computer monitor. This number will be displayed
on the touch screen monitor located at the print station near the Library Research computers.
By selecting your computer number, your print requests will be displayed
and you will be prompted to insert your print card.

Q:
Does the library have wireless
access?
A:
While the library does not have its own wirelesss Internet access,
in October 2005, Academic Computing Technologies (ACT) launched a
program that would provide students with wireless Internet access on
campus. The wireless "hotspots" are located in the quad near the
LLRC and the 100 building as well as the patio area near the 700
building. Wireless Internet can be accessed through laptops using a
standard FCNet login and a single user can stay connected for 5
hours per login.
Please keep in mind that wireless Internet
connection has no built-in security that protects users from
malicious computer programs, spyware and adware. Computers using
wireless connections should be protected against viruses, intrusions
and pop-up advertisements. Furthermore, users should refrain from
transmitting personal information over a wireless connection.
