Citing Sources

  1. Ask you instructor is there is a bibliographic style or format that he/she prefers you to use, i.e. MLA, APA, Turabian, etc. If there is no instructor preference, pick one and be consistent. There are books that explain in detail the different styles, as well as web sites (see below).
  2. Because the Web changes so quickly, it's a good idea to save or print all the pages you want to use. The site you find today may be gone tomorrow! For Internet sources be sure and note:
      • The Internet address or "URL" for your Internet site, such as http://www.source.com
      • The date you accessed these pages on the Web
  3. FC librarians can advise you on citing your sources. Click here for contact information.
  4. The FC Library has two handouts that can assist you with citing your sources. These are in .pdf format.
    • APA Style
  5. Try "NoodleBib," software available to FC students and faculty to assist in compiling a bibliography in either MLA or APA style. Click here to access NoodleBib. Off-campus access requires the password from the Library Reference Desk.
