Text Box: In 1947, Gonzalo Mendez and four other fathers of children of Mexican descent living in Orange County won a landmark legal case entitled “Gonzalo Mendez, et al. vs. Westminster School District of Orange County, et al.” This case desegregated Orange County elementary schools seven years before Brown vs. Board of Education desegregated the nation.
