The
purpose of library instruction is to teach students to do library
research efficiently and effectively in and outside the classroom using information
competency standards
established by California Community Colleges and in higher education.
Librarians
knowledgeable in the use of various research tools provide a friendly
introduction to the research process. Information about classroom
equipment or tours for disabled students is available at Adaptive
Equipment and Services.
By
way of a library instruction session, scavenger hunt, tour, or Research
class, students can acquaint themselves not only with the physical
layout of the library but also with its varied resources. This
is an important first step in overcoming any anxiety which may
be associated with library research.
