Citing Internet Sources

When using the Internet for research, you must correctly cite your sources in your bibliography. Remember the following:

  1. Because the Web changes so quickly, it's a good idea to save or print all the pages you want to use. The site you find today may be gone tomorrow!
  2. For your bibliography be sure and note:
  3. The Internet address or "URL" for your Internet site, such as http://www.source.com
  4. The date you accessed these pages on the Web. Ask your instructor if there is a bibliographic style or format that he/she prefers you to use, i.e. MLA, APA, etc. If there is no instructor preference, pick one and be consistent!
  5. FC Librarians can advise you on citing your sources.
  6. Try the Noodlebib software available to FC students, staff and faculty to assist in compiling a bibliography in either MLA or APA style. Off-campus access requires a password which can be obtained from the Reference Desk.
